a new adventure

To all my new readers,
I’ve launched myself into the blogging world less than a month ago and I’ve fallen in love. Over the past 2+ years I’ve had the opportunity to document all things design on the blog adesignmafia, but this year starts a whole new kind of blogging. I look forward to sharing my world with you on a more personal level and hope everyone finds the things I post fun to read and come back for more.

I see this year bringing a bundle of new and exciting things and I’m sure my little bubble will be turned upside down a few times. (that’s always fun right?) I’m relatively new to the “real world” as far as my professional career goes ( art director at an advertising agency) and I guarantee there will be lots of things learned and lots to be shared. I can also guarantee that our puppy will get into more trouble, my relationship with the boy will constantly be evolving, and I’m determined to experience everything that is thrown at me.

As I leave you to start the new year I ask for your help.
(1) I would love to hear how everyone got started in blogging and how their blog has evolved.
(2) I’m researching the best ways to get word out that my blog exists and that I have content worth sharing.
(3) Would also love to hear what kind of content you are drawn to or what kind of content you enjoy posting about?
(4) Is there anything missing from the current structure of my blog that would make navigation more seamless?

If you have any other helpful tid bits about the realities of being a blogger, I’d love to hear them.

  1. (1) I started blogging exactly a year and a day ago. It was my new years resolution to blog a minimum of 5 days a week.
    (2) I use twitter, facebook, chictopia, weardrobe, and weheartit to promote my blog. I also read and comment on a lot of blogs. I also don’t bash people over the head with my links. Commenting on my blog and leaving 3 links to your blog or a comment like “great shoes. come enter my giveaway!” is basically the same as asking me not to visit your blog.
    (3) I read vintage and personal style blogs. I am really drawn to funny people. The more hilarious your content, the more likely I will come back. That being said, if your post is too wordy I will stop after the first paragraph. Otherwise I feel like I am doing homework.
    (4) I LOVE how clean your layout is. I’m not a fan of busy 3 column looks with patterned backgrounds. Your photos pop and it is easy to navigate. Since you are not a blogger user I would appreciate an “add me on bloglovin” link. It is how I follow people, and if they don’t have the link I often won’t bother going to bloglovin to find it myself.

Like I said, I’ve only been blogging for a year. You have a ton of experience with your other blog, so I’m guessing you could teach me a thing or two.

    XO Robyn

  2. Hey! What a cool request! You’ve inspired me to do a blog post answering your questions and I’ll be sure to link back here. 😀

    Happy Sunday!

  3. Hey!!! I don’t know if it is because I use mozilla or what but it is very difficult to read this font on my computer. I had to highlight everything before I could read it. It is good to know that your life seems to be an adventure!! I am so happy for you.
