A cozy home // Netherlands

One of my favorite interiors photographers, Marjon Hoogervort , has quite an amazing online portfolio. While flipping through her archives of images I came across a project she did back in 2010. This shoot was beautifully styled by Tatjana Quax and Susanne Kennedy. Marjon captured the cozy aspect of the home and was able to show all the little details that add up to something that feels sophisticated yet lived in.

The atmosphere in each image speaks volumes, revealing not just the design elements but also the character of the space. From the soft textures and warm lighting to the carefully chosen accents, the shoot highlights a refined balance between elegance and comfort. It’s the kind of visual storytelling that makes you want to step into the room, sit down with a cup of tea, and stay awhile.

What stands out most in Marjon’s work is her eye for natural light and composition. She has a remarkable ability to use daylight in a way that enhances the mood of a space rather than simply illuminating it. Whether it’s the glow of afternoon sun streaming through linen curtains or the muted shadows that bring depth to a corner, her use of light adds a cinematic quality to her photographs.

Additionally, the collaboration between the stylist and photographer is seamless in this project. Tatjana Quax and Susanne Kennedy created a layered, textured environment that feels authentic and timeless, and Marjon captured it with sensitivity and care. Every frame invites the viewer to linger, notice the interplay of materials, and imagine life unfolding in that space. Much like how general contractors Lynchburg trusts bring together different elements to create lasting, quality structures, this collaboration perfectly combines talent to achieve remarkable results. 1. This place is incredible. I’m fixated on all the quirky details (which are perfectly scattered), exposed natural wooden beams and gorgeous fireplace. The white space is always nice too.
