Studio Hours: Salvaged Lights

I’ve got a real “thing” for industrial lighting and have been collecting random pieces for the last few years. Since I’m showing more pieces of my studio with you guys, you’ll be sure to see many more black lights of all different  shapes and sizes. I’m in the process of creating some really fun cage lights that I hope to share soon.

What I love about industrial lighting is how versatile and striking it can be. From exposed bulbs to metal shades and vintage cords, each piece adds personality and depth to a space. Lately, I’ve been experimenting with mixing metals, different bulb tones, and even salvaged parts. It’s all about balance—adding a bold touch without overwhelming the room.

As fun as designing and collecting these lights can be, there’s always the technical side of installation. Wiring vintage fixtures, setting up dimmers, or figuring out the safest way to hang heavy lights isn’t something I like to DIY. That’s where a licensed residential electrician makes all the difference. Hiring an electrician ensures everything is done safely and up to code—especially when dealing with older components or more ambitious lighting setups.

So, while I’m busy planning the next lighting cluster for my workspace, I know I’ll be calling in a pro to bring the vision to life (and keep my walls from catching fire). If you’re working on a similar project or even just thinking about upgrading your lighting, it’s definitely worth having a skilled electrician on your side.

Let the lights shine—safely and beautifully.
