Brand Design Photography & Styling Clarity Consulting

Inspired By: Inventory – Queen of Tsawwassen

As I’ve mentioned in the past, I’ve been working on a printed portfolio (photography based) project for some time now. After a few delays in the printing process, the client and I are back at it, prepping final files to be sent to the printer. During this entire process I’ve been very in tune to what’s going on in the world of publishing and book design.

This 120-page hardcover book showcases the work of photographers, Li Bosworth, Seth Fluker, Jennilee Marigomen, Dan Siney and Chris Taylor (Canadian photographers). I love the simplicity of the design that lets the photographs speak for themselves. What do you guys think? Good?

  1. It definitely does speak for itself. I honestly was just putting together a wedding album for a friend and thought that I’d like to do a photo project or just a photo portfolio as you mentioned, bound in a book. I used Blurb for the first time yesterday and it was pretty user friendly. I have also heard good things about ubyu. Do you mind sharing what you’re using? Or just building in inDesign?

    1. Hi Anna.
For this project I’m just building out the spreads in InDesign and then having all the pages individually printed/bound together at the end. For quicker projects I’ve used Blurb and Artifact Uprising. I’ve grown to really love Artifact Uprising because of the way they bind the pages and the paper is super high quality. I’ve also found the uploading process to be pretty great.

      Best of luck!
