Lucy's Glasshouse

I’m pretty sure my mother would just die to have this…my dad too…and me, really! I’m dreaming of warmer days with lots of greenery surrounding me. I can’t wait for the smell of fresh greens, citrus, flower buds, and even the smell of summer rain. Let’s just skip this winter stuff, and even the spring stuff, and hope right to the HOT & SUNNY summers that make me one happy camper.

Lucy and Stephen Marr own this beauty and I envy it with all my heart. Look at how it looks pieced together with salvaged window panes. So great.

mustard, gray and black…oh my

No matter how many times I try to step outside of my color lover box, I always circle back to this lovely color combination. It’s beyond perfect and never seems to grow old. I’m sure you can tell from my blog design that this combo is a keeper.

I think it might be the mix of a color with a nod to earlier times (the mustard was a real winner in the 50’s) paired with the classics of black and gray. ohh and look how great baby pink looks in that lineup! Maybe I’m just making up stuff, but I love it!

8 Track Update

What do you add to your daily routine to get you through the day? For me it’s a must to put on some headphone and crank up the tunes. Some days that means listening to the same song over and over, and other days that means hoping around to different songs as my mood changes.

So where do I find the playlists I listen to? It’s usually either my personal Grooveshark playlists or 8 tracks from some of my favorite bloggers. The 4 above have been in this week’s rotation.

Aren’t these just beautiful? I’ve been enjoying tracking down photographers who capture the beauty of everyday things. Capturing morning breakfast, walks in the park, or lazy afternoons seems like an easy task, but as an amateur photographer myself, I find it challenging. I find myself only wanting to capture the perfect compositions, the best moments, the ones I feel are worth capturing…but in reality my photos never feel as real as these.

Something to work one. Not all photos have to be perfect to be beautiful.

Behind the Lens of Evaforeva

I recently came across the blog called My Eva Foreva, a blog with great personality and unique film photo shots. I’ve fallen in love with a frequent feature on her blog called Film Weekend where she simply takes snapshots of her weekend…on a film format camera. The shots are simple and extremely beautiful.

If you’re looking for a new blog to crush on, stop by and say hi to Eva. She’s one talented gal with some killer DIY ideas and a lovely Vintage Shop called Gold Antlers.

INSPIRED BY SUSANN STEFANIZEN / CURATED BY AMY MOORE

I always love when I get a project that allows me to combine art with design, so I thought I’d share some work that has a wonderful marriage of both this week.  Enter Susan Stefanizen, an illustrator/designer who is a pro at hand-lettering.  Her whimsical, brush-like strokes bring such a fun effect to the typography.  I’ve seen a lot of hand drawn type floating around the design world lately, and I love it – it’s one way to guarantee your work is unique and original every time!  Enjoy!

A Room For The Wee Ones

I’ve been eyeing this interior space for some time now. I’ve decided that if I have have children I’m going to go bold and paint black floors. Decided….done & done.
This space is lived in by two little ones, ages 2 & 7. It’s minimal with all the right details; false suspended ceilings and sliding doors. All furniture pieces serve a purpose and the space was designed in a way that the space can either be open to the rest of the house or closed off for quite times.

Ahh. I just love it…and I’m not a big fan of pink or red 😉

This week’s Recreate It is from the wonderful Refueled Magazine, which has two of my favorite things : full spread photography + justified text ( justification not shown in this post, though ). One thing that Refueled does well is keeping typography cohesive. In their latest issue, any type that is layered on top of a photograph is opaque. Not only that, but they have this cool grunge effect going on. If you’re not 100% sure about whiting out text on top of imagery, just remember that there’s always that translucent option!!

A Home with History

A good starting point for your springtime home repair is a thorough inspection of the exterior of your home. Take a close look for any signs of wear or damage, such as issues like water leaking from floor or any other structural concerns that might need attention. Make sure as well to check the bathroom and hire experts like shower regrouting Melbourne for professional regrouting services. If you notice that your siding is looking dated or worn, consider upgrading to something modern and durable, like this new vinyl siding in San Antonio. This proactive approach can help you catch problems early and avoid costly repairs later on.

A few spring home maintenance tips that can save you trouble down the road are:

Windows & Doors Are Some Of The Most Important Spring Home Maintenance Tips

  • Remember to check your outdoor faucets for freeze damage; if you suspect any issues, such as easily stoppable water flow, it may be time to also consider seattle tankless water heater repair to ensure your plumbing system is functioning properly.
  • Now is the time for an inspection of your windows and doors. Look for loose caulking at the sills and also around the window and door frame where it meets the house. Check out the best short load concrete delivery deals.
  • If you have rotten wood, you should have someone take a look at this. You might need window repair or window replacement.
  • Check for cracks and loose or missing calk.
  • Check all windows and doors from the inside of your home for air coming into your house. This can signify the need for new energy saving replacement windows or doors.
  • Also look for any depressions or standing water in your yard that was not previously there.

Gutters And Downspouts

  • Check for obvious damage.
  • Do you notice any of your Gutters or downspouts out of place?
  • Are there obvious leaks?
  • Are the downspouts draining free and clear away from your home’s foundation?
  • Now is also a good time to put a ladder up to check the gutters for debris.
  • You may want to explore the option to install gutter guards on your gutters, to further safeguard against debris buildup and clogging,
  • Evaluate the overall functionality and efficiency of your gutter system.
  • For efficient spring home maintenance, consider hiring professionals for expert seamless gutter installs to ensure your property stays protected from seasonal rains and water damage. Get reliable help from Water Damage Restoration Service Houston professionals anytime.

Roof Repair And Roof Inspection

  • While up on the roof visually check the roof for any damage here or needs for roof repair. If any issues are detected, it’s advisable to contact a professional roofing contractor promptly.
  • Look for out of place or missing shingles.
  • Also, take a walk at ground level to visually inspect the roof.
  • While walking around the outside look at the flashing around the chimney and vents for any loose or missing calk.
  • Also, observe the vents for any evidence of nesting birds or other animals.
  • If you feel uncomfortable going on the roof to check any of this, including the roofing materials you need in Utah, or just your skills and abilities to assess or repair these items, you can always hire a home repair professional to do the job for you. You can also check the prices for roof replacement costs in your area to help plan your budget.

Air Conditioning And Heating Check

  • Now is the time to check your air conditioner, as springtime will soon give way to hot summer days. A good company like indoor air quality gig harbor wa can help ensure your system is ready to handle the heat efficiently. While a thorough portland air conditioning maintenance and check is best done by a home repair professional, there are a few simple things you can do. It is advised to seek ac repair Christiansburg services at least once a year to maintain your ac unit’s functionality and efficiency. You may also consider hiring this expert in ac repair port st lucie fl for professional services. This will prevent your AC unit leaking water and maintain its good running condition.
  • Make sure the outside unit is free and clear of debris. This will help assure good airflow and maximum efficiency in the operation of your unit.
  • Change filters on the inside that you can access. Follow manufacturers recommendations on the size needed and also gaining access to them.
  • Turn the unit on and listen and observe both inside and outside. Listen for any unusual noises and observe for any unusual vibrations on both the inside and outside of the unit.
  • Place the thermostat to an operating temperature and see if the unit cools your house to temperature in a timely fashion.
