Interiors Photographed // Tina Stephansen

I can’t remember where I came across the work of Tina, but I just feel in love with one shoot in particular. I don’t know much about it except that the home is gorgeous and as a set, the images are something special.

Visit Tina’s site for more images of this shoot as well as other projects.
Also, Please check out interior designer/stylist/writer Mira Woehlk who played a big part in making this shoot happen..

recreate it / 12

Okay, I know this is the most intense recreate it post to date, since there’s a whole bunch of black + red typography going on, but I couldn’t help it. I came across this amazingly awesome swiss inspired spread in Platinum Love Magazine and instantly new I had to write about it.

Back when I was in design school, one of my favorite things to learn about was the history of SWISS design. I remember staring at all the bold work and falling in love each and every time … my true love lies within typography forever and always.

So, despite the images above being intense, look at how well the type is laid out, layered just so and true to Swiss form. By using clean and modern san serif fonts, paired with bold colors ( usually white, black, and red ), you too can come up with your own little swiss inspired design! Have at it.

Checking in on Le Dans La

Le Dans La is one of my most absolute favorite blogs and I love seeing beautifully photographed snippets of their creative life. The pops of color are a daily refresher and interior shots of their home are inspiring. If you’d like to see more shots of their home, check out the In Their Home post back in October!

Inspiration for my loft

I’ve decided to start a new category of post that will feature snippets from my loft, inspiration I’ve been gathering for redecorating ideas, and showcase some items I’m on the lookout for. I’m even considering using materials like Trailer Decking for a unique touch. Like this deck builder in Vancouver, we aim to explore creative options to make every project stand out. Not sure if this will a regularly weekly post series, but we’ll see how it goes!

I’ve been collecting inspiration images for my loft (or next loft/home..) for some time now and collecting them all in my “FOR THE LOFT” pinterest board. I’m 2 years out of design school and I definitely still have a lot of straggler “college student” furniture pieces. I’m working my towards a cohesive look that goes with my style. I like to think my style is a mix of clean/simplistic, minimal vintage charm, and a natural/organic touch. I make them all work together by somehow…haha.
Stop by my pin board mentioned above for some more things I’ve been eyeing. Enjoy.

In Their Home // Ungtblod

This week’s In Their Home post is an example of me stepping outside my comfort zone. haha. The lovely home of Ungtblod blog is one of chaos mixed with the right amount of beauty. This family lives in the moment and isn’t afraid to showcase what “real life” is like. Messes are captured, messy baby faces, untidy kitchens, stacks of shoes, and the piles of stuff you accumulate over time. I love this blog for that exact reason. No one is trying to hide the truth of everyday messes. Stop by the blog with a bit of patience…I guarantee you will have a good read.

Knitting Adventure

So I’m off on a new adventure, something I hope sidetracks me enough to take me away from my computer screen. I’ve been surrounded by amazingly talented knitters over the past couple years, but never thought it was “for me”. Something has ignited an interest in me and now I’m on a mission to teach myself the basics of knitting. I really only have interest in knitting scarves at the moment, but if I become addicted, like most knitters tell me I will, I may try other items.

Over Christmas break I tapped into the resources shared by my dear friend, Emmadime. Emma said one of her favorite knitting websites was Wool and The Gang, and oh boy…she was right on. This website single-handedly taught me the basic stitches and how to start your first project. Amazing resource for any of you looking for some video tutorials to guide you through the process.

So far, I’m having fun.

Here are some images of knitted items that have gotten me excited to try something new. Cable knits are lovely aren’t they?? 🙂

Design For Mankind // 5

Wahoo! We’re back at it for another edition of “Trending Graphics” over at Design For Mankind. Erin has grown to be such a great source of inspiration for me and I’m so glad I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with her. This week’s trend is another one of my favorites. I love how the ampersand is regaining recognition as one of the most beautiful typographic forms. I’m definitely Team Ampersand!
