Mike Perry's Studio

Working as an art director at and Advertising agency usually means getting a bunch of “junk” mail from artists trying to entice us into using their services. Most of them make it to the recycling bin within minutes because they just don’t stand out amongst the rest. Mike Perry’s work on the other hand comes across my desk quite often and stays there. I’ve hung some of his promotional material up on my cork board because they’re pretty darn inspiring.

Here’s a few glimpses into his work, but please be sure to view the FULL PORTFOLIO for more work samples. You can also buy some of his work here! Enjoy!

Roost's Yummy Goodies

Roost, a discovery worth sharing. I came across this blog a few months back, but keep forgetting to mention its awesomeness. Roost is a foodie blog with a little bit of life thrown in for fun. Caitlin, a freelance graphic designer and photo stylist writes about what inspires her, shares recipes from her kitchen, and educated others about a grain-free diet (read more about why here). Her photography is out of this world and her food is mouth watering. Please stop by for some eye-candy!

Hand-Picked over @ Emmadime // 2

Today’s another hand-picked day over at Emma’s blog. ( Emmadime ) This one was really fun to put together and I got to look at cute little kids items, which I never do. Kid’s stuff these days is CUTE! I found lots of great shopping ideas for the little ones, so head on over!

If you aren’t familiar with Emma and her blog, I guarantee that you’ll fall in love with everything she has to offer. I promise! Don’t forget to stop by every Thursday for some new ideas!

Home envy from Dwell

I believe I first saw a snapshot of this home pop on in Pinterest and I was instantly glued to the rest of the home tour on Dwell.com. That Pinterest is one bad habit I tell ya. This mid-century gem of a home was featured on dwell and showcases everything I love about mid-century. The decor wasn’t over done, but perfectly pieced together. I’d say this home has the perfect combination of natural tones, wood textures, and bring pops of color.

What struck me most was how effortlessly stylish the decor was. It wasn’t overdone or trying too hard—it was perfectly pieced together in a way that felt both curated and livable. I couldn’t help but think how Abu Dhabi’s top online shopping destinations offer amazing decor finds that make achieving this balance so much easier. The balance between natural tones, rich wood textures, and pops of vibrant color was just chef’s kiss. It’s the kind of home that makes you want to sip coffee in the morning sun or host an intimate dinner party with friends, perhaps after working with industry-leading door replacement specialists to give your space that extra touch of perfection.

Can we also take a moment to appreciate how mid-century design has this magical way of making every corner feel intentional? From the art on the walls to the cozy yet functional furniture, everything had its place. It’s the dream, isn’t it?

Let me know when you stop drooling, and we can get on with the rest of our lives—though I’ll be here, still daydreaming about that dreamy home tour.

recreate it / 03

This week’s recreate it takes us to RUE for inspiration. This particular spread from the magazine hits home for me, literally. The images on the left are taken from my favorite thrift store here in the Minneapolis area called Hunt & Gather. But beyond that, this spread gives a great insight into layering and making things funky. After all, Bri Emery – the head designer for RUE is famous for that. Give layering a chance, folks. You can come up with some pretty fun pieces!!

As usual, don’t forget to check out Cassie’s recreate it piece this week on moxee!

The LomoKino Super 35

I can’t tell if I just love the website, or if I feel like I need one of these babies to add to my camera collections. The Lomokino Super 35 is a Lomography movie camera that shoots short on 35mm film. AND you can buy the LomoKinoScope to watch your analogue movie! You can even bundle to two together and get both for $99. Can’t beat that. These babies are just so stinkin’ cute!

Visit the LomoKino Screening room to see what the camera is capable of and to watch a bunch of user submitted videos!

Add it to my wish list

Last week while perusing my daily Fab.com deals I came across the prints of Safewalls.org. This month Safewalls is highlighting 3 spanish artists that have created original poster designs for Cirque du Soleil (a show I’ve yet to see!) This print called Corteo by Noria Mora is an abstract composition about trapeze wires, balloon from Corteo and the sun. How awesome is that?

The print is currently on sale, which means it’s been added to my holiday wish list. There are only 300 24″ x 36″ signed prints available so act fast. You can purchase HERE. You can also buy smaller sizes at Society6.

In Their Home // Vahan Vinoon

First thing I’m going to say about this blogger is WOW…she’s got her sh*t together. Her photography is gorgeous and her home is so simplistic, it’s making my jealousy meter explode. I really wish I could pair down the “stuff” I have laying around. Please stop by her blog, read her quality post, stare at her amazing photos, and dream about living in a simplistic/beautiful home. The white walls are calling my name. Adding painting on my list of things to do.

Stop by her BLOG here.

Portfolio NOW LIVE!

So this “scroll to the right” little baby has been in the works for a while now. I’ve been working out the kinks and I finally landed on something I’m really happy with. I’ll be adding projects along the way, so be sure to check back often.

If you aren’t aware that I’m also a freelance graphic designer, now you do. A portfolio site kind of makes it official, don’t ya think? Please contact me with any design questions or needs and let’s see if we can figure it out together. I specialize is branding, color theory, logo design, blog design, and really have a passion for traditional print media such a booklet design, invitations, posters & prints. If you’re interested in a design collaboration or sorts, I’d love to chat. Need a guest blogger while you’re on vaca…I’d down for that to.
