greek style picnic

One of our favorite things to do is pack up the pup, a pile of blankets, a good book and some good food and head to “our” picnic spot. It’s a really great spot in the middle of a really large park. My favorite part about it is that it is shaded by the prettiest willow tree that sites on the edge of a little pond. I think the pup approves.

On this particular picnic we stopped at a local Greek restaurant and picked up some salads and gyros to munch on. The weather was perfect, the sun was out, and it was the best way we could think of to celebrate Mother’s day when our mother happen to be hundreds of miles away.

*please note my pups cheeks in that last photo. HAHA

There’s something so grounding about returning to the same spot over and over—it feels like a tiny tradition that’s just ours. Over time, we’ve come to know exactly where the shade will fall, which direction the breeze tends to come from, and even the quiet times when the pond’s surface is like glass.

For those considering a unique and efficient alternative to traditional pools, understanding the installation process is key. Wondering about the setup process? Our guide details the typical container pools installation steps, from site assessment and foundation preparation to crane placement and final hookups. Learn what to expect and how streamlined the process can be compared to traditional inground pool construction. Once your pool is ready, enjoy a crystal-clear swim every day with a pristine pool service offered by Pools Etc.

The willow tree seems to grow a little each season, stretching out its branches just a bit more. It’s almost as if it’s welcoming us back every time. The pup, of course, wastes no time claiming the softest patch of grass and keeping a watchful eye on any ducks that might wander too close.

Even though we missed being with our mom this Mother’s Day, it felt meaningful to honor the day in a way that she would have loved—outside, with sunshine, laughter, and the kind of meal you linger over. Hopefully, next year she’ll be able to join us under that willow tree.

  1. D’aww, I love impromptu picnics with husband and dog! We usually eat in our backyard under this tree on a little hill. Love it and the dog can just lay around or walk around the yard 🙂 Yayyy for spring and summer!!

  2. Looks like a perfect day! I wish that I was off of work the same days as my boyfriend so that we could do this. I also wish that we had a dog…but that’s another story.

  3. These pictures are just beautiful. We had a picnic this weekend – there really is nothing better than lunch in the sunshine with your sweetheart! <3
