What are you Reading this Holiday?

I’m packing up lots of cozy sweaters and downloading a few goodies to my Kindle before heading out on Friday. I am however at a loss for what books to read this holiday. I’m not a big reader most of the year, but when it comes to vacations, I like to bring options.  If you’ve read anything decent or have a few recommendations from others, I’d love to hear them!

A few books/magazines I’ve read recently and have loved:

1. It Starts with Food by Melissa & Dallas Hartwig
2. A Homemade Life: Stories and Other Recipes from My Kitchen by Molly Wizenberg
3. Girl Boss by Sophia Amoruso
4. Trouve Magazine Volume One
5. The Yellow Table : A Celebration of Everyday Gatherings by Anna Watson Carl

****UPDATE – A few books/magazines recommendations that came in through Instagram***

1. Bossy Pants by Tina Fey
2. In the Heart of the Sea by Nathaniel Philbrick
3. Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Maurakami
4. Mastering the Art of French Eating by Ann Mah
5. This is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper
6. Mr. Punumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan

  1. I’m the same! I always get into reading during holiday time. I recently finished Amy Poehler’s new book which was good, as well as Brain on Fire. I am not sure what sort of books you are into but I am always a big biography fan. Brain on fire was pretty great.

I’m looking for a few good books myself, will keep an eye on this post 🙂

  2. One of my favourite books this year was The Secret History by Donna Tartt (and I’ve heard that the Goldfinch was also amazing)! My to-read for the holidays list includes Station Eleven, The Martian, and the Bone Clocks! Happy Reading!

  3. Do you like nonfiction or fiction? What you feeling in this season? I find book recs so hard since people are into their own thing but at the same time, I love reading what people recommend. I was surprised by how much I loved reading “The Martian.” I think my Christmas reading is going to be “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil: A Savannah Story.” But on the business side, I’ve been enjoying all the 99u books through Kindle Unlimited. “Manage Your Day-to-Day: Build Your Routine, Find Your Focus, and Sharpen Your Creative Mind” has been jam packed with some great tips.

  4. I am so looking forward to sitting down to start AND finish “The Elegance of the Hedgehog” over the holidays 🙂 I read “Mr. Penumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore” earlier this year, and it was a great read – quick and fun – so I can second that recommendation. Enjoy!

  5. I have so many books on my reading list, mainly classics that I’ve never had a chance to read! Girl Boss is actually one of the newer ones that looks a really good, inspiring read.

  6. Lena Dunham’s book, ‘Not that type of girl’ is perfect for a Christmas holiday – It’s made of little unrelated stories so it’s ok if someone interrupts your reading asking for help with the tree decorations or the cooking 🙂
