Spell & The Gypsy Collective

Started by sisters Elizabeth and Isabella, Spell & The Gypsy Collective is a clothing and accessory brand that channels the girls gipsy spirit. Children of a leather craftsman and a painter/potter, the girls have a really free spirited aesthetic. I really loved the above images from their various lookbooks.

Alexandra Valenti’s Painted Photos

Many of you may be familiar with the work of Alexandra Valenti, but if not…today is your special day because her work has the potential to just blow you away. Such a simple concept (painting ontop of a photograph), but wow…the results are just lovely. I love how the addition of color just brings each photo to life and seems to tell a larger story. Here you can view more blogs related to painting and art. You can also check This site for useful information.

Stop by Alexandra’s Portfolio to see more just like this as well as more of her photography work.

Also, today I’m over on my dear friend Amy’s blog (Amy Moore Studio) sharing some of my favorite moments in her ‘Objets de Valeur’ feature. Head on over!

Instantly Turning 26

At the end of June I turned 26 years old. 26 feels weird. It’s like you’re now moving out of your 20’s and towards something scary. I don’t know. Let’s not think about it.

Anywho, my fiance bought me the Fujifilm Instax Mini 7s and several packs of film. It’s a gift I’ve been dying to have and ever since opening the box, I’ve been taking a bunch of photos. The photos above were taken while away at a friends wedding. We chose to use the down time in between the ceremony and reception to scour the country rounds of Southern Indiana for the best photo taking spots. I must say, the mister is looking pretty dashing….and yes…its was 105 degrees and we wore all black. Typical.

Meiwen Snapshots

Back in May I was approached by a fine arts student studying at UC Irvine and reaching out to make some connects in the design world (way to go!!). Her name is Meiwen and let me tell you…she’s got a really really beautiful photography blog that’s just oozing with pretty. She has a really great eye for capturing the beauty in everyday objects as well as capturing those bigger moments that are sometimes tricky to get.

I’be been scrolling through her blog for some time now and I’m super inspired to start shooting again (I’ve been a slacking amateur photographer for a few weeks now). Thanks for the inspiration Meiwen!

Micheal Graydon's Weekends

The photography work of Micheal Graydon keeps popping up everywhere and catching my eye every time. His work with Kinfolk and Herriot Grace are among my favorites, but his entire portfolio is just as juicy. These images were filled under the category “Weekend” and give me a really cozy feeling. Take a look at the rest of his portfolio!

The Voracity by Anna Williams

The Voracity is a personal project by photographer Anna Williams. With this project she hopes to explore hunger, consumption, and beauty and then display her findings in beautiful little online zines. I stumbled across the project when I saw THIS image in the latest summer issue of Sweet Paul.

Good stuff Anna & Paul. Good stuff!

The Sophisticated Gourmet

I came across these photos via a pin on Pinterest and was in heaven. The process of cooking/baking is beautifully captured by Kamran Siddiqi. He’s a 19- year old New Yorker, designer, food writer, student, and claimed “chocolate junkie”. ( I hear that!)

If you’re a blog reader who not only loves seeing beautifully photographed food all plated up and gorgeous AND loves seeing the process…Kamran is your guy.

Hope on over to his blog, The Sophisticated Gourmet or follow him on Twitter!

Messors: A die for retreat

How would yo like to plop yourself down in one of the world’s most beautiful locations and soak in all the knowledge you could about art restoration or maybe even learn from some of the most authentic italian chefs? Sounds like perfection to me. Messors is a collection of artistic workshops that allow you to spend an extended amount of time with some of the best art forms Puglia, an italian town. You’re 100% immersed within the Puglian culture, history, food, architecture, and artistic treasures and you get to stay in a historical family home (with working farm).

As a college student, I got to witness one of my professors leaving the US to live in Italy for a month or two on his creative sabbatical.  I had never really heard of this concept before, but I’am finding that lots of creatives out there partake in this kind of deep dive retreat for the brain. I hear a retreat of this style is beyond intensive but more worth it than words can describe. Today, I’m putting a creative sabbatical on my bucket list and Messors is a likely candidate 🙂

Have you ever taken a creative sabbatical? Worth it? Interested?
