a trip to pappy's bbq

My mom & dad came in from Fort Wayne Indiana last weekend and they arrived hungry. The boy and I decided to take them to get some “real” BBQ at a St. Louis favorite. Pappy’s BBQ has been on the Travel Channel when Adam came to St. Louis with his show, Man V. Food.  (WATCH VIDEO HERE!)

This smokehouse is one of those places where you wait in a long line, they take  your order at a small counter, wait at gingham tablecloth picnic tables, and then your served your food in little plastic baskets. The atmosphere definitely makes the place and if you’re in town, you should definitely stop by. I suggest getting the pulled pork sandwich.

Eating great tasting bbq is a perfect way to start a day on Antique Row. Pics from Antique Row were shown last week.

Do you have a favorite BBQ spot?

  1. Wow! That looks so good! Funny story about restaurants like that: My friends Kathy and Rick were at a breakfast place where you ordered your food at a counter, and then a waitress brought it to your table. Well, the two of them ordered so much food, that the waitress brought 4 place settings because she thought there must be at least that many people dining!

  2. I live in Texas where there are awesome BBQ places ABOUND! But my personal fave is Iron Works BBQ in Austin, TX. The sauce is my favorite, sweet but tangy and nice and thick. YUM! Now I’m craving some : ) Unfortunately I live in Houston…
